• About Us

Creativity, quality and transparency from the roots.

The La Pace vineyard is as much a discovery as it is a creation. The seven-hectare pocket of land on which it lies is cast in a corner of untouched pastoral landscape, surrounded by Mediterranean scrub and knobby olive trees, on the Colline Metallifere of Massa Marittima and in front of the gorgeous Gulf of Follonica.

Drawing inspiration from Tuscany’s rich historical and cultural heritage and leveraging its unique and bountiful nature, we have painted a place of love on this white canvas. Here, wine is relished as food for the soul, a meeting point of Man and Nature to be shared among all people for their holistic well-being.

We cultivate the earth’s fruits to fulfil an instinctive passion for the creative process. Our experts tend lovingly to every single vine and bottle, closely abiding by the strictest quality standards without compromise.

Our wines are all certified organic, aged in French barriques and made with the utmost respect for our fruit. All this has enabled us to offer affordable Super Tuscans consistently rated above 90 points by the most qualified wine reviews in the world since the very first vintage in 2013.

We cultivate varietals of international caliber that transcend borders and conventions: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay and Viognier. From these we shape our wines:

Pittoresco (ex-Red Label), a modern and appetizing blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, owes its name to the temperament of the sculptor and painter Marianita Valdinoci, Simone’s mother;

Silvano (ex-Black Label), a tribute to Simone’s charismatic father, an intricate and polished blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot;

our Cabernet Franc and Merlot (ex-Gold Label), the purest expressions of these varieties, which we only produce on select vintages;

Prima Viola (ex-White Label), a graceful cuvée of Chardonnay and Viognier named after Tommaso Valdinoci, maternal grandfather of Simone and the first violist at the La Scala Theater in the period following World War II;

Nina, a zesty Viognier monovarietal, a delectable wine that captures the fragrance and vividness of Mediterranean scrub.

Our offering also includes a Grappa Riserva, distilled from prime red grape marc and aged in our barriques for at least 18 months, an aromatic Grappa Bianca, obtained from select Chardonnay and Viognier marc, and a delicious extra-virgin olive oil.

We open our doors to show you how we grow our grapes and how we make our wines. Pending your visit, we invite you to take a look at our official brochure to learn more about our enterprise.

History

  • 1934

    Gino Maggioni, grandfather of Simone, settles with his family in the Ligurian countryside near Imperia, where he founds the La Pace concept. An internationally renowned architect and designer in the 1920s and 1930s, he had previously owned a furniture atelier in Milan.

  • 1936

    Gino takes inspiration from the ancient and symbolic olive tree to draw the first La Pace logo, which later becomes an emblem of renewal and creation.

  • 2006

    Silvano Maggioni and Marianita Valdinoci, Simone's parents, discover the land plot on which Podere La Pace is located. Simone Maggioni, the third generation, brings the La Pace concept forward in Tuscany by purchasing it.

  • 2011

    The vineyard is planted and construction works for the winery begin, thus extending a tradition of entrepreneurship and exploration. The first La Pace labels are officially launched with the 2013 vintage.

  • 2014

    The labels go through a first artistic makeover: the landscape facing the farm is captured on canvas by Flemish painter Françoise Palsterman and the resulting painting is placed on them.

  • 2020

    La Pace presents the new wines with some elegant and innovative labels designed by Monica Maggioni, Simone’s sister, in a year that veritably cements its identity.

  • 2022

    La Pace registers as a benefit corporation, thus turning its commitment to the holistic well-being of its surrounding community and territory into its purpose.
