• About Us

Creativity, quality and transparency from the roots.

A promising plot of land in a corner of untouched pastoral landscape, surrounded by Mediterranean maquis and centuries-old olive trees. Starting from such a white canvas, we have created a marvelous vineyard, a world-class winery, and exquisite wines. We have achieved all this by leveraging the richness and uniqueness of local nature and drawing inspiration from the soul of Tuscany.

Podere La Pace is a place of love. Here, wine is considered food for the soul, a meeting point enjoyed by all people for their holistic well-being. Generosity, creative energy, and the elegance of simplicity: in these values are rooted our distinguished wines.

We cultivate the earth’s fruits to fulfil an instinctive passion for the creative process and the pursuit of sublimity. Our experts tend lovingly to every single vine and bottle, closely abiding by the strictest quality standards. Our wines are organic and made in full respect of our prime materials. All this has enabled us to offer affordable Super Tuscans consistently rated above 90 points by the most qualified wine reviews in the world since the very first vintage in 2013.

History

  • 1934

Gino Maggioni, grandfather of Simone, settles with his family in the Ligurian countryside near Imperia, where he founds the La Pace concept. An internationally renowned architect and designer in the 1920s and 1930s, he had until then owned a furniture atelier in Milan.

  • 1936

The first La Pace logo is drawn by Gino, later becoming a symbol of renewal and creation.

  • 2007

Silvano Maggioni and Marianita Valdinoci, Simone's parents, discover the land plot on which Podere La Pace is built.

  • 2007

Simone Maggioni, the third generation, brings the La Pace concept to Tuscany and creates the winery, thus extending a tradition of entrepreneurship and exploration.

The La Pace vineyard is as much a discovery as it is a creation. The seven-hectare pocket of land on which it lies was purchased in 2007 and is situated on the Colline Metallifere of Massa Marittima and in front of the gorgeous Gulf of Follonica. The gifts of such a natural bounty and the region’s historical and cultural heritage have inspired us to cultivate varietals of international caliber that transcend borders and conventions: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay and Viognier.

We produce a limited number of bottles, around 30,000 a year. Our wines, all certified organic, are:

Pittoresco (ex-Red Label), a hearty but agreeably smooth cuvée of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, owes its name to the artistic vocation and temperament of the sculptor and painter Marianita Valdinoci, Simone’s mother.

Silvano (ex-Black Label), a tribute to Simone’s charismatic father, a complex and polished blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, exalted through an aging period in French durmast oak barrels of at least 12 months.

The offering of red wines is completed by the La Pace series (ex-Gold Label). This line is only produced on select vintages; it constitutes a spotlight for the purest and most defining expressions of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot through three monovarietal wines aged in durmast oak barrels and vats for 16 months and subsequently for at least 12 months in the bottle.

Prima Viola (ex-White Label), a graceful cuvée of Chardonnay and Viognier named after Tommaso Valdinoci, maternal grandfather of Simone and the first violist at the La Scala Theater after World War II.

Nina, an effervescent and zesty Viognier which we ferment and refine in small oak barrels for around 10 months.

The other products on offer are our Grappa Riserva, distilled from prime red grape marc and aged in our barrels for at least 18 months, an aromatic White Grappa, obtained from prime Chardonnay and Viognier marc, and a delectable biological extra-virgin olive oil.
